Drive Comet pride with a new UT Dallas specialty plate.
The UT Dallas specialty plate allows you to personally brand your Comet connection while supporting student scholarships. With every $30 specialty plate purchase or annual renewal, the University will receive $22 that will go toward funding student scholarships. For an additional $40 fee, you can take your license plate to the next level and personalize it with your name, favorite Comet slogan, catchphrase or year of graduation.

General Information
- While UT Dallas students ultimately benefit from your support of the license plate program, the purchase transaction is between you and the licensing agency. UT Dallas does not have access to records of the transaction and, therefore, the University is unable to provide customer service or answer any questions regarding purchase or delivery.
- Delivery of the specialty license plate generally takes two to four weeks.
- Your local county tax office will notify you by phone or email when your plates arrive.
- You may check on the status of your plates by phoning your county tax office. To locate your local office visit txdmv.gov/contact-us.
- Once the plates are delivered to the main office, you may request that the plates be sent to a more convenient substation nearer to your home or office. Delivery to the substation will take approximately four additional business days. For a list of substations click here.
- Some new plate holders may be asked to pay a small additional fee to cover an adjustment in the timing of the expiration of their registration.
- Once the new license plate is installed, it is important to notify all entities where your plates are registered, e.g., TxTag, NTTA, HCRTA and UT Dallas Parking.
Souvenir Plates
Even if you don't drive in Texas, you can still get your own UT Dallas souvenir plate for display in your home or office. While not road-worthy, commemorative plates are perfect for life's milestones like graduation and welcoming future Comets to the family. Personalized souvenir plates cost $40, with half of the funds coming back to support University scholarships. You can purchase a souvenir plate with personalized messaging by going to txdmv.gov/motorists/license-plates and clicking the "Souvenir License Plates" tab.
